I’m a self described aggressive reader. And now that seminary is in my rear view mirror, I am more than ready to get back to one of my favorite past times. As I shared with my folks at church this past week, I have a large collection of unread books, waiting for me to dive in.
To get me back into my reading regiment, I chose “Renegade”, a 2013 release from Vince Antonucci. I must admit that when I first saw the book in the store, the title definitely grabbed my attention. But after a quick glance at the cover information, the table of contents and the reviews, I knew this was going to be spot on for me. I’ve had the book in my ‘unread stack’ now for almost four months. And already after the first couple of chapters, I can honestly say that it’s been well worth the wait.
I think sometimes we as believers allow ourselves to be in safe zones. Almost sheltered. In these safe zones, we must be extremely careful not to allow our faith to become lazy.
Trust me, it’s extremely easy to do!
I think for me, I’ve been in one of those ‘safe zones.’ Just rolling with the flow.
How about you? Are you finding yourself in one of those ‘safe zones’?
It’s OK to admit it! Just don’t continue to stay there!
This book is a good swift kick-in-the-spiritual-pants for me. Something that I can tell I’ve needed.
So, what are you reading? What are you doing to keep from staying in one of those ‘safe zones’?
