BOOKI would describe it as a ‘little BIG book’.  Even though little in size…143 pages…it packs a BIG punch.

I’m fortunate to have served on the Launch Team for this ‘little BIG book’.  One of the perks was that I was able to receive a free, advanced copy prior to launch date.  On the afternoon I received my package, I quickly grabbed my copy, fired up my Keurig and began to devour every word.  Every.  Single. Word.

I finished the book in just over two hours.  And during that time I underlined, highlighted and wrote my own personal commentary on virtually every page.  Throughout Chapter 2, entitled ‘Five Kinds Of Unmovable Church Members’, I caught myself writing down names of former church members under each category!  Amazing how spot-on are the descriptions of each one.

To be honest, most pastors and many staff members that I know could have written the majority of this book.  I know I could have.  Which tells me that Dr. Rainer definitely has his finger on the pulse of the local church in America.  Many times pastors and staff feel isolated, even to the point of being abandoned.  This book will let you know in a hurry that you are not alone whatsoever.  And, that the issues we face in the local church are extremely widespread and not restricted to a specific geographic region or even a specific denomination.

The book is chalked full of quotes that you will find yourself filling up social media with.  And I dare say that you will most probably memorize several of them.

Dr. Rainer makes it clear, “This book is for all pastors seeking to lead their churches to change.  This book is for church staff and lay leaders who want to make a positive contribution toward leading change in the church.”

But don’t just ‘buy’ the book.  Pray through the book.  Digest the book.  Then pray more!  Buy  extra copies, give them to your staff, your deacons, your leadership team, etc. and use this as the foundation of a great discussion group.  THEN, take action steps.

I can almost guarantee that ‘Who Moved My Pulpit?’ will be one of those books that you will find yourself rereading time and time again.  I pray it speaks to you as much as it spoke to me.

Blessings,

Jim

And as always, the BIGGER issue is that LIVES are at stake when we talk about the problems that churches face. Good review! Can’t wait to read it!
